Every idea starts with a problem...
Everyone remembers the timeline of ‘Lockdown 1’ and the relief at finally being allowed outside for a brief walk or run. Tom Miles spent many of his early lockdown runs pondering how he could work his upper body without access to the gym and without a set of weights at home. At some point during or after a video call with his father, renowned product designer Alexander Miles, a lightbulb moment occurred between father and son. “What if we attach a set of resistance bands to a belt in such a way that they provide upper body resistance while you run?”
It’s one of those ideas that seems so obvious once you hear it that it is almost impossible to believe that it’s not been done before. Countless internet searches drew a blank however, so Tom and Alex, separated by 200 miles, set about designing and constructing some prototypes. After several months of development and numerous iterations, the production model EX-BELT finally emerged.
Since launching, the EX-BELT has become so much more than just a running accessory - it has allowed people from all walks of life to introduce exercise to their daily routines in new and exciting ways
